Kevin Schaff

Founder and CEO

As CEO of Thought Equity Motion, Kevin leads the company’s corporate strategy, drives product direction and positioning, raises funds, and generates awareness for Thought Equity Motion among industry analysts and potential partners. Kevin is a well-regarded entrepreneur who has successfully founded, financed, operated and sold companies from the beginning of his career.

Prior to founding Thought Equity Motion, Kevin founded UPDATE Systems, Inc., an Internet e-communication company focused on delivering e-mail marketing and promotion software to aggregators of small business. In 1999, Kevin successfully negotiated the sale of UPDATE Systems to Webb Interactive Services (Nasdaq: WEBB), a leading provider of infrastructure services for local Internet commerce. Kevin was also the President of Wind River Communications Inc., a nationally competitive design and Internet development firm formed in 1993. Under his direction, Wind River experienced growth of more than 100 percent each year for five consecutive years and served clients such as USWEST, Motorola, Coopers & Lybrand, and Macy’s. In 1999, Kevin successfully negotiated the sale of Wind River. Kevin received a BA in Marketing Communications from the University of Wyoming.

Steve Joanis

President and COO

As President and COO of Thought Equity Motion, Steve is responsible for overall operations of the company, including management of its overseas offices. Prior to Thought Equity Motion, Steve was the CFO of Ischemia Technologies, a venture-backed medical diagnostic company in Denver. Subsequent to Ischemia, Steve was a venture capitalist, first with Roser Ventures in Boulder, Colorado, and then with Wolf Ventures in Denver. Prior to joining Roser in 1998, Steve was a management consultant with The LEK Partnership. Based first in London and then in Chicago, Steve specialized in mergers and acquisitions and strategy consulting. Prior to business school, Steve was a Captain in the army, where he served as a helicopter pilot in several international and domestic assignments, including the Gulf War. Steve has an MBA from Wharton and a BS from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Eric Toler

Chief Financial Officer

As CFO of Thought Equity Motion, Eric is responsible for all financial operations of the company, including financing, reporting and accounting. Eric has over seventeen years of business consulting and executive leadership experience with technology-based companies. Prior to Thought Equity Motion, Eric was Executive Vice President and CFO of Carefx Corporation, a venture-backed provider of enterprise software for the Healthcare market. Prior to Carefx, Eric was CFO of Core3, Inc., a Business Process Outsourcing provider with operations in India and the U.S. Before his operating roles, he was a venture capitalist with Koch Ventures, the private equity and venture capital arm of the largest private company in the U.S., Koch Industries. Eric has an MBA from the University of Michigan and did his undergraduate work at Dartmouth College.

Mark Lemmons

Chief Technology Officer

As CTO of Thought Equity Motion, Mark oversees strategic technology and product roadmaps, as well as the development of new products and technologies. Mark has more than 15 years of experience in digital film and video management, search technology, content re-use, and video licensing. In his role, Mark brings seasoned expertise in key areas such as digital asset management, search and metadata technologies for creative assets, and large-scale database management and security. Prior to Thought Equity Motion, Mark led the Creative Software Group at Creo, a global company with key strengths in digital imaging and software technology. At Creo, he established and led the team’s email-based asset management product, which enabled the rapid and secure search and retrieval of information from large-scale email databases. Mark also served as VP of strategic development at Quark.

Sal Siino

Chief Revenue Officer

As CRO of Thought Equity Motion, Sal oversees the company’s growing US sales operations, as well as its expanding roster of international sales offices. Sal brings more than 15 years of leadership experience to the position. Previously with Westwood One, he served as Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Operations, where he oversaw more than $200 Million in annual revenues. Before joining Westwood One, he practiced law with Kelley, Drye & Warren in New York and worked as an investment banker in Merrill Lynch’s Mergers and Acquisitions group. Sal received his BA from Georgetown University, his J.D. from The George Washington University School of Law and his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Mike Emerson

EVP of Operations

As EVP of Operations, Mike is responsible for commercializing Thought Equity Motion content and services. This includes creating new revenue opportunities with existing media partners, launching additional content collections with new media partners, increasing distribution of content through global channel partnerships, and optimizing processes with internal teams to accelerate customer adoption of products and services. Previously, Mike was VP Sales Operations for Cenveo (NYSE: CVO), a diversified visual communications company, where he led marketing, national customer service, and sales development and training for a $1.4 billion division. Before joining Cenveo, Mike co-founded a venture-backed incubator dedicated to helping entrepreneurs rapidly scale technology companies. This was the second company Mike had successfully co-founded and operated. Prior experiences include brand marketing and strategic planning roles with the Guinness brewing division of Diageo (NYSE: DEO) and management consulting with ZS Associates, where he advised companies in marketing and sales strategy. Mike has an MBA from Wharton and a BBA from the University of Wisconsin.

Frank Cardello

EVP of Corporate Development

As EVP of Corporate Development at Thought Equity Motion, Frank is responsible for developing strategic business relationships with industry partners. Prior to joining Thought Equity Motion, Frank served as VP of Sales and Business Development for Ping Identity Corporation and Jabber, Inc. Before that, he was the CFO of, Inc. and Building Up Los Angeles, the nation’s second largest Americorps National Service Project. Prior to business school, Frank served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy. He received his B.S. in economics and general engineering from the United States Naval Academy and his MBA from The Kellogg School at Northwestern University.

Dan Weiner

Vice President of Marketing & Products

As Vice President, Marketing & Products, Dan is responsible for the company’s marketing initiatives and product strategy. This includes online marketing, PR, social media, and overall company positioning, as well as developing new product offerings and revenues in alignment with the company’s commercialization, technology and sales activities.

Most recently, Dan was Managing Director of the New York office for Red Bricks Media, a leading interactive agency specializing in Search & Performance Marketing. Prior to that, he was at Sony Music Entertainment as Vice President, Online Media Network, responsible for products and monetization across the company’s hundreds of artist and label sites. There he launched a range of new offerings for content delivery, sponsorship integration, and community tools, including the industry-leading Musicbox (now MyPlay) broadband video network. Dan has also held product and marketing roles at Idealab, and Prior to business school, Dan worked in Management Consulting and Strategic Planning. Dan holds an MBA from the Wharton School and a BA in Social Anthropology from Harvard University.

Tori Donovan

General Counsel

As General Counsel of Thought Equity Motion, Tori is responsible for the legal affairs of the company, including licensing, intellectual property, general corporate matters and compliance. Prior to Thought Equity Motion, Tori was an attorney with Holland & Hart LLP in the firm’s business department where she served as counsel to the company and numerous other emerging companies in various stages of growth and development. Tori brings several years of experience counseling public and private technology companies to Thought Equity Motion, including extensive expertise in public and private financing, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and securities law disclosure and compliance matters. Prior to joining Holland & Hart, Tori was an attorney with Cooley Godward LLP with their corporate securities practice. Tori earned her law degree from the University of Denver School of Law and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Prior to law school, Tori worked at Janus Funds.

Mica Imamura

General Manager, Asia Pacific

As Thought Equity Motion’s General Manager, Asia Pacific, Mica is responsible for managing overall company operations in the region, where he has resided for more than ten years. Mica was previously the CEO of AZTEQ Mobile Corporation, a venture-backed mobile software and services company. Before AZTEQ, Mica worked in the mobile telecom industry as a senior executive for Vodafone plc (AirTouch Communications), serving in a variety of general management roles across Japan. Prior to his business career, Mica served as an officer in the United States Army and flew as a reconnaissance pilot during Operation Desert Storm. Mica has a BS in Applied Science and Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Simon Gibbs

International Managing Director

Simon Gibbs is responsible for business development and relationship management with key media partners in Europe and across the globe. This includes new content licensing and representation agreements as well as the company’s managed services technology platform.

Simon Gibbs was the founder and Managing Director of BBC Motion Gallery, which, under his leadership, grew from its launch in 2004 to become the world’s leading supplier of video clips to the B2B market. By the time he left in 2010, BBC Motion Gallery distributed video clips around the globe from some of the world’s leading video archives, such as CBS News, NHK (Japanese Broadcasting Corporation) and ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), CCTV (Central China Television) as well as the BBC archive.

Simon started his career with Deloittes and then joined N. M. Rothschild & Sons in 1983 working on corporate advisory work in the UK and Singapore. In 1989 he left Rothschilds to manage several company turnarounds and launches including Gieves & Hawkes, One Word Radio and Chivers Audio, which publishes audio books. As CEO of Chivers Communications plc, he floated the business on the UK stock market in 1999 and then sold it to BBC Worldwide in 2001.

Bret Wilhoite

Vice President of Sales Operations

As Vice President of Sales Operations, Bret manages all sports content and product lines for Thought Equity Motion. He handles the digital preservation and licensing of Thought Equity Motion’s footage, including over 100 years of NCAA championship footage. Bret is also responsible for developing and extending the sport content product offerings into new media platforms.

Prior to Thought Equity Motion, Bret was a Senior Product Manager and Pricing Manager at Qwest Communications in Denver, a leading telecommunications provider of voice, video and data services. Bret specialized in new product development and strategy, competitive intelligence and pricing/promotional strategy. Before Qwest, Bret was a Senior Product Manager for AT&T; Broadband/Comcast Corporation, managing product offering and deployment, and executing growth plans that increased their customer base 500% in just over 2 years. Bret has an extensive background and life-long interest in sports. As the National Event Director for USA Cycling, Inc., Bret organized and directed road and track racing National Championships and U.S. Olympic Trials. Bret earned a BA in Communications with a minor in Education from DePauw University, and an MBA from the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business.

Jackie Mountain

Vice President of Sales, Western Region

As the Vice President of Sales, Western Region, Jackie oversees Thought Equity Motion’s growing West Coast sales operations out of its Los Angeles office. Jackie brings a wealth of media and sales experience to Thought Equity Motion. Jackie most recently served as Publisher of Primedia’s largest Los Angeles publication where she managed a team of 20 and increased revenue by more than $10 Million annually. Before joining Primedia, Jackie acted as Associate Publisher for three of Southern California’s premier luxury publications. There she developed and launched The Peninsula Hotel’s In-Room Magazine, generating an additional $5 Million dollars annually for the boutique publishing group. Previous to her career in publishing Jackie ran the US Sales efforts for a global streaming media company where she landed their multi-million dollar Key account, as well as assisted in closing the majority of all of their major advertisers. Jackie received her BS in Business and Marketing from the University of Missouri – Columbia.

Dave Smith

Vice President of Sales, Eastern Region

As the Vice President of Sales, Eastern Region, Dave oversees Thought Equity Motion’s growing Eastern Coast sales operations out of its New York City office. Previously, Dave held a variety of leadership positions at Westwood One, a content and programming company. His most recent position at Westwood One was Executive Vice President, Sales & Operations where he was responsible for managing $185mm in revenues, guiding a 140 person national sales team, and leading restructuring efforts geared towards greater profitability. Prior to Westwood One, Dave led business development at Electric Artists, a digital brand management and strategy agency and also within the Institutional Client Group at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. While at leading NY-based public relations agencies, Dave led marketing strategy and corporate communications efforts for dozens of global clients. Dave received his BA from Duke University and MBA from Wharton.
