Business Development Executive

Position Description:

The Business Development Executive (BDE) is Thought Equity Motion’s face to the world. Part evangelist, part relationship builder, and part expert teacher about the emerging area of video (and related technologies), as the BDE, your mandate is to develop and cultivate new relationships with customers and industry contacts, across all market segments. The BDE will also work closely with Thought Equity Motion’s Account Managers to develop new business among the company’s current customer base. As an executive on the day-to-day frontlines of what business leaders want and are looking for, this position has enormous potential to drive the overall business development strategy across all regions and markets.

Although relatively young, Thought Equity Motion is changing the model of the motion imagery licensing industry with the introduction of technologies, business practices, and customer relationship structures (partnerships) that have already proven successful in the fields of e-commerce, finance, and entertainment. The BDE is someone who will represent that entrepreneurial spirit and passion, and have a willingness to think and act out-of-the-box.

Specific Responsibilities:

    • Formulate the outbound prospecting strategy and tactics for the assigned territory.
    • Qualify, prospect, recruit, and formalize relationships, preferred pricing, and contracts with new customers and prospects.
    • Coordinate and implement all activities required to support customer visits, industry awareness, and overall sales efforts.
    • Ability to seek out new industries, sectors, and market segments where Thought Equity has yet to develop established business activity.
    • Continually monitor and research industry announcements, trends, advancements, while converting these events into prospecting opportunities.
    • Facilitate communications between customers and the Thought Equity Motion team.
    • Participate in requested events, trainings, meetings and outings where appropriate.
    • Provide detailed customer feedback into marketing and sales for product planning purposes.
    • Assist in the review and negotiations of contracts and agreements.
    • Develop an expertise for our motion imagery portfolio.
    • Understand market demand and identify areas of collection to grow to improve overall performance.
    • Collaborate with the North America Sales organization for B2B licensing opportunities, client meetings, and business opportunities, from a tactical and strategic approach.
    • Meet or exceed regional sales revenue goals.
    • Submit periodic Business Development activity and performance reports.
    • Work with marketing to ensure our motion portfolio is merchandized appropriately and significant market impact is achieved.
    • Develop overall strategy for maximizing the profitability of collections.

    Experience and Attributes:

    • 3+ years of proven B2B sales development experience, utilizing a Relationship-selling approach.
    • Established contacts at senior levels within Advertising Agencies, Production Companies, and Communication Departments a significant plus.
    • Consistent, strong performance within previous sales or business development positions.
    • Demonstrated success in a results-focused, aggressive, hard working, high-growth culture, startup experience preferred but not required.
    • Excellent organizational, verbal, written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
    • Ability to communicate and cultivate relationships with all levels of an organization.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Experience within Licensing Sales model preferred.
    • Experience with film/video production, stock footage, or other related industries a plus.
    • Outstanding leadership skills.
    • Proven negotiation skills.
    • Highly adaptable and comfortable with change.
