High Definition video format
High Definition Video or Television “HDTV” provides significantly improved picture quality with more visible detail over traditional Standard Definition “SD” video. It also includes a wide screen format (16:9 aspect ratio), and may be accompanied by digital surround-sound capability. There are 18 FCC approved DTV scan rates in the United States - three are commonly used. These include 480p, 720p and 1080i. Of these, only 720p and 1080i are “HD” formats.
